  2. Ask about the moment you are in. A 1-on-1, a piece of feedback, a new role. 
  3. Act on guidance built from your real results. Specific to the person and the job.

For your employees

  • Preparing for a 1-on-1: “My manager is asking for more from me in this area. How do I get ahead of her concerns, and what strengths can I lean on?” 
  • Processing tough feedback: “My manager said I need to be more organized. What do my results say about that?” 
  • Setting development goals: “What’s one thing I could work on that would make the biggest difference?” 
  • Starting a new job: “I’m starting a new job as an account manager. What should I know about what it will ask of me?” 
  • Taking on a stretch assignment: “I’m about to lead our sales kickoff for the first time. Where should I focus?” 

For your managers

Ask Wonderlic helps managers lead better, too. From a direct report’s results page, it helps them prepare for the conversations that move someone forward, grounded in how that person operates. From their own results page, managers get coaching on how they lead. A few prompts to start: 

  • Coaching on follow-through: “I need to coach this person on follow-through. How should I approach that?” 
  • Getting the best out of someone: “How do I get the best out of someone who is quiet in meetings but great one-on-one?” 
  • Preparing for a development conversation: “I have a development conversation with this person tomorrow. Where should I focus?”

After the conversation, a manager can come back and tell Ask Wonderlic how it went. It can help plan next steps or prepare for the follow-up.
